Using Our 3D Models for Mechanical Handling Engineering

Our 3D models are designed with features and embedded information to give mechanical handling engineers better control over the behavior, placement, and transformation of each model. These elements ensure your workflow remains efficient, precise, and reliable when setting up or testing configurations in Navisworks.

Inserting Models

Inserting our models into Navisworks follows the same familiar process:

  1. File Naming: First, make a copy of the NWD file and rename it as desired to help identify it in Navisworks’ selection tree.
  2. Appending: Append the renamed file into your Navisworks project.

All models are pre-positioned to align with standard coordinates. Each model’s lowest point is set to the Z-coordinate 0, so once you move it to a desired point, it automatically rests at the correct height without needing further vertical adjustments.

Easier Transformations with Built-in Reference Guides

Our models come with carefully designed aids to make transformations like rotation and positioning straightforward and precise:

For additional precision, many models include a separate rotation-center object. For items like pallet jacks, this object can be hidden when not in use, streamlining the visualization.

Optimized for Smooth Positioning

To support accurate manual adjustments, all models are structured to facilitate measurable movement around designated points. This setup prevents accidental misalignments, so you can handle transformations with confidence, even for complex rotational scenarios.

Attached Datasheet for Reference

Each model includes a detailed datasheet, covering:

Where applicable, the datasheet includes a lifting chart for models like cranes, showing weights, lengths, and other critical metrics. This chart can also be hidden if it’s not needed for specific stages of your study.

Streamline Setup and Improve Accuracy

By combining visual aids, precise coordinates, and standard-compliant positioning, our models help reduce setup time and enable accurate movement and rotation within Navisworks. This approach transforms parametric movement from a process of estimation into a precise engineering function, making your mechanical handling studies faster, more reliable, and visually accurate.
